Wooey

Wooey is an alternate spelling of WUI, which is an acronym for Wildland Urban Interface. I heard this phrase a lot studying Urban Resilience and Sustainability in Boulder for two years. Boulder is a small city that sits right up against the flatiron foothills of the Rocky Mountains so there is frequent interaction between people and wildlife in the area. This piece pushes the wildland and the urban even closer together by having NY inspired apartments buildings coming out of mountains. And of course it wouldn’t be complete without some trees and vegetation growing in odd places. Pen and ink with watercolor on watercolor paper.
